I often pass up wood that may be considered fine by industry standards for something that will add a natural grace to our man made design. The materials I work with are not uniform. They can be moody. They can be deceptive, sometimes hiding faults until the very last moment of finishing. Then I have to start all over again. Craftsmanship breeds patience.
